Brisout, 1866, Scoliocerus curvipes Wollaston, 1854, Trachyphloeus myrmecophilus Seidlitz, 1868, Trachyphloeus picturatus Fuente, 1902 and Trachyphloeus socius Chevrolat, 1866. The following new combinations are proposed: Cathormiocerus aristatus (Gyllenhal, 1827), Cathormiocerus globicollis (Stierlin, 1896), Cathormiocerus jeani (Borovec, 1989) and Cathormiocerus spinosus (Goeze, 1777) - all from Trachyphloeus Germar, 1817. For Cathormiocerus escalerai Borovec & Bahr, 2007 a nomen novum Cathormiocerus hustachei Borovec & Bahr, 2008 is proposed. Due to the transfer of the former Trachyphloeus aristatus to Cathormiocerus aristatus (Gyllenhal, 1827) the eastern border of the distribution of the genus Cathormiocerus shifts from Italy to Kazakhstan and Siberia. The genus Chaetechus Horn, 1876 a former synonym of Trachyphloeus is a new synonym of Cathormiocerus Schoenherr, 1842 by the change of Trachyphloeus spinosus (= Chaetechus setiger Horn, 1876) to Cathormiocerus spinosus (Goeze, 1777). Relevant external characters and - if known - the male and female genitalia of all discussed taxa are illustrated. A new diagnostic key - in German and English - allows the identification of all species of the Cathormiocerus socius group.
