Studies on the Cleoninae have significant practical interest. Some Cleoninae are known as agricultural pests and some are potential pests. Many Cleoninae feed on weeds and can be important in their suppression. The ecology of most species of the subfamily has been insufficiently studied. In 1981-1984, I studied the species composition, geographic distribution, and ecology of Cleoninae of the steppe zone of the Ukraine SSR.
